I have no idea who Gabriel Guevarra is, but after hearing every track on his new album Gabi Na, I figured that he's worth the research.
Based from the overall feel of his album, I think that it's a plethora of different genres all mixed and meshed harmoniously with each other. From acoustic to electro-pop (and yes, the use of the infamous auto-tune in some of the electro-tracks), Guevarra was able to maintain the harmony and cohesiveness of the songs and had managed to avoid the 'chop-suey' effect.
In fact, the intro alone is an excellent way of introducing the whole album to us. Gabi Na is in the same league as Rico Blanco's Happy New Year. (but this one is a tad better; it would've been great if Gab added lyrics, but it's still all good)
From the trance-inspired Body Rock to the acoustic tracks on the latter parts of the album, I will give you an in-depth look at one of the best albums I've heard in early 2009. Check a track-by-track review of Gabriel Guevarra in my site soon.
For now, I leave you with this rating, so as to give you an idea on the excellence you are about to experience.
